The David Rathkey Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund

David Alan James Rathkey was a thirteen-year resident of Mountain Lakes, a soccer player on a local Mountain Lakes adult team, and a soccer coach with Mountain Lakes/Boonton Township/Boonton soccer club (MLBTB SC) who died during the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. 

In addition to his family, his passion and love for the game of soccer knew no bounds.  In honor of David Rathkey, MLBTB Soccer Club will award $500 scholarships to two high school seniors from Mountain Lakes High School and Boonton High School who were members of or played for the MLBTB soccer club and plan to further their education by attending college or an accredited technical school.

The deadline for application is June 1.  Applications must be post marked on or before June 1.  Any applications received after June 1 are not eligible for consideration.

GUIDELINES

  1. Eligibility:

Applicants must (1) have been a member of and/or played on an MLBTB Soccer Club team and (2) be a high-school senior that plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational- technical school.


Award Criteria/Weighting: 
 1. Letter of Recommendation - 25%

   2. School Activities - 20%

         3. Community Activities - 20%

         4. Employment Activities - 10%

         5. Essay - 25%


Additional Information: 

  1. Awarded to one male and one female senior student at Mountain Lakes High School and one male and one female senior student at Boonton High School

2. Any current board members with children applying for the scholarship will not be permitted to participate in the evaluation process or the selection of the recipients

3. Applications must be received on or before June 1. Any applications received or post marked after June 1 are not eligible for consideration
