Pre-Game Procedures & What to Bring to a Game

  1. Line each team on their own 18 yard line so that you can check their equipment.

  • Check cleats; the spikes must be round and made of plastic or rubber.  Absolutely NO METAL is allowed on the cleat. (Players may play without cleats)

  • Check shin guards; must covered by the socks, be made of hard plastic and provide a reasonable degree of protection. Players CANNOT play without shin guards.

  • Check for jewelry; NO jewelry may be worn with the exception of medical alert bracelets which should be taped down.

  1. Give out line flags to the head coach of each team.  The coaches are responsible for choosing the linesmen.

  2. Call the captains from each team to midfield for the coin flip.  The winner chooses which goal they want to attack and the loser kicks off.

  3. Send the players back to their coaches and call for the teams to begin the game.

What to Bring to A Game

 

Bring the following items to every game:

  • Flags (2)

  • Whistle

  • Coin

  • Voucher Sheet

  • Score Sheet

  • Cards (Yellow/Red)

  • Watch

  • Cleats (If you have them)

  • Small Pencils (At least 2)

**Morning Games at the RVA Fields can be cold.  Bring a jacket, gloves, etc.
