The MLBTB Travel Soccer Program is for the player looking for more intensity and competition. Our teams participate in the Morris County Youth Soccer Association League (MCYSA). The teams competing in these leagues are primarily located in Morris County with additional teams from Essex, Somerset, Sussex and Warren counties. Travel time to games can be as far as an hour away. Our teams compete in a 10 game season in the fall (and spring for a number of teams) with games being played on Sunday afternoons. The fall teams usually practice twice during the week and have trainer sessions twice a week.

Commitment & Requirements:
Playing on a Travel Team requires a commitment from both the participant and their parents. All players are expected to attend all practices and games. Additionally, our travel teams will participate in 2 tournaments (Labor Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend) each of which involves 3-4 games over the weekend. Players are expected to participate in the tournaments.
The Morris County Soccer League is a “Carded” league. That means each child’s player pass must be presented at every game. To enable the MLBTBSC to obtain the player passes, participants will provide their coach with the following items:

The Try-outs will be held in April/May. (Date and times will be posted on our website). All evaluations will be conducted by an outside professional soccer training organization. The tryouts will consist of scrimmages according to age groups and gender. The focus will be on skill evaluation in game/scrimmage settings based on your child’s soccer skills, athletic ability, attitude, and ability to listen and follow directions.
Notification of selection will be made by mid-June. Once notified, it is expected that your child will join the team. This acceptance will indicate participants’ and parents’ willingness to fulfill the commitments required.
Parents should understand that a large number of children may tryout for a limited number of roster spots. This may result in some children not being selected for a team. The roster size is set by the state so we do not have the option to exceed a certain number of players per team. Also, the traveling soccer program may not be appropriate for every child. Please be mindful of these facts before the try-out process. Remember, the MLBTBSC recreation program is a wonderful alternative that will continue to build your child’s skills.
Children will try out for travel and be evaluated by an outside professional soccer training organization. They will be judged on soccer skills, athletic ability, attitude, and ability to listen and follow directions. These evaluations will then be reviewed by the travel coordinator and the coach. The evaluations will be part of the data used to determine the teams, but the coach will also use assessments of past performance and any particular needs of the team in order to arrive at the ultimate roster of the team.
